Abstract EN

This research presents software programs that have been designed in order to evaluate the reliability in electrical distribution networks, by calculating the reliability indices for 20 kV distribution feeders.

It is the first study in this field for the distribution network in Syria.

First of all, the mathematical models of reliability have been presented.

Then the program DIS_REL_1, which is prepared to calculate the reliability indices in typical networks, has been applied to a typical network in order to ensure that the program is working correctly.

In the next step, two programs have been presented, DIS_REL_2, which is dedicated to calculate the reliability indices in the radial networks, and DIS_REL_3, for the meshed ones.

Finally, the application of these two programs on a 20 kV feeders from Damascus distribution network has been presented, showing the reliability indices for them.

The obtained results show that the reliability of the network has been enhanced through using ring configurations.
