Abstract EN

Slums exceed their actual presence towards a spatial existence; forcing designers, planners and decision makers to approach them with an expert eye to investigate reasons that enabled and still enable this urban type to transform it into an integrated structure inside societies structure.

Within this context, studies deal with the phenomenon of slums with many ideas and directions, in order to merge this phenomenon with the urban sociable development s vocabularies.

But most of them in their general context remain theoretical, whereas others are proved through real implementation of these ideas and direction.

According to that, this study aims to highlight on slums residential type as one of popular directions to solve the problem of having a house using self-efforts and available possibilities.

This paper emphasizes on usable lessons of this type, analyzes the positive and negative aspects of these local and international experiments, translates them into multiple strategies starting from spatial upgrading to bulldozer system and ends by merging the two mechanisms with analysis of each one towards choosing the best alternative.

It figures out a dynamic method for treating slums with a possibility of implementation and spatial translation.
