English Abstract

This study aimed at investigating the reality of applying the educational accountability as well as total quality management in the universities of the south of Jordan in addition to the relationship of that with some demographic variables.

In order to achieve the study objective, two instruments were developed; the first was for measuring the level of administrative accountability and the other for measuring the total quality management.

The validity and reliability for them were verified.

The study sample consisted of 237 faculty members from the universities of the south of Jordan.

The study concluded that the level of administrative accountability in the universities of the south of Jordan was of a medium level, in which the domain of professional discipline was in the first rank, followed by the domain of work in the second rank, and the domain of personal traits was in the last rank.

The results showed that the level of applying the total quality in the universities of the south of Jordan was of a medium level, in which the domain of (Academic programs and scientific research) was in the first rank, followed by the domain of (strategic planning and governance), then the domain of (sources, and management of quality assurance), while the domain of (Student Services and Community Service) was in the last rank.

The results showed that there are no statistically significant differences at the level ( α=0.05) attributed to the impact of the variables of (job title and the university from which the person graduated) on the level of administrative accountability and total quality in the universities of the south of Jordan from the viewpoint of the faculty members, while the results showed that there are statistically significant differences due to the impact of academic rank on the level of administrative accountability and total quality in the universities of the south of Jordan from the viewpoint of the faculty members in favor of professor, associate professor, and assistant professor).

The results also showed that there is a statistically significant positive relationship between the level of administrative accountability and the level of applying total quality management in the universities of the South, and in the light of the study results, the researcher concluded with a number of recommendations.
