Trichoderma viride and Trichoderma harzianum were propagate through their development on barley straw for 21 days in order to use treated straw with fungi in feeding Arabi lambs ad libitum as four nutritional groups.
First group was control group with untreated straw.
Second group was treatment two (straw treated with TV).
Third group was treatment three (straw treated with TH).
The fourth group was treatment four (straw treated with both TV and TH).Concentrate feed was given to all groups as 2% of body weight ,it consisted of69.5% barley, 26% wheat bran, 1.5% urea and 3%a mixture of vitamins and minerals.
Second part of this study was growth trail lasted 100 days, digestion trail lasted 15 days and it was subjected to economical evaluation.
A total of20Arabi lambs aged about 7 months within average weight of 35 kg distributed randomly and equally to the previous four nutritional treatments.
The trail was conducted in the field of Animal Farm/ College of Agriculture/ University of Basra.
Each lamb was placed in a single cage.
Drinking water was freely accessed .Using both fungi (treatment 4) resulted in a significant improvement in the chemical composition of the straw through the high content of crude protein and low crude fiber ,ADF and NDF compared to untreated straw.
There were improvements in digestibility of crude protein, fiber, cellulose, hemicellulose, ADF and NDF when the both fungi treatment was used.
As well as total digestible nutrients of the fungus treated groups in comparison with untreated straw (control group).
