Abstract EN

The spatial distribution of the commercial activities in cities is very important in urban research and studies, that for its features to detect the efficiency and sufficiency in meeting the needs of their frequenters.

The evaluation styles and methods of these activities distribution pattern were multiplied and varied between a simple descriptive visual analysis to geographic statistical analysis, and this is related to the nature of the data used in the measurement of this phenomenon and in the clarification of its role in the urban area organization.

The aim of this research is to highlight the city of Annaba (fourth Algerian city) after it became characterized by the phenomenon of commercial polarization and the multiplicity of population frequency to high sizes and varied directions, in order to recognize the distribution pattern of commercial activities across the urban texture using a variety of statistical indicators such as the aggregation indicator and the concentration indicator and their relationship with the population dimension, in addition to the use of the cluster analysis to detect the spatial hierarchy which characterizes the urban sectors of the city of Annaba through multiple types of commercial activities
