The dual mechanical ports machine (DMPM) is used as an energy transducer between the internai combustion engine and the final differential gear in the hybrid power split vehicle.

It is formed by an inner wound rotor, an outer permanent magnet rotor and a stator.

The variation ofthe electromagnetic torque in the outer airgap is affected by the inner electromagnetic torque variation.

In order to have good performances on speed drive, a model reference adaptive sliding mode control method is used in this paper to control the rotors speeds.

This control strategy is robust to ail perturbations and parameters ‘uncertainty.

The currents are controlled via vector control using proportional integrator controllers.

In this paper, the model of the DMPM isdeveloped and implemented using MATLAB/SIMULINK.

Then, the proposed control method adopted to the DMPM is detailed and described.

Simulation results are presented to highlight the control strategy used.
