Abstract EN

This study aims to examine the educational competencies necessary for teachers of Arabic as a second language in the light of standard qualities related to planning, implementation and evaluation, from the experts' point of view.

The researcher employed descriptive survey in which questionnaire was administered to a sample of 34 experts in teaching Arabic as a second language from the Institute of Arabic Linguistics, King Saud University, Riyadh .

The researcher identified 50 competencies necessary for teachers of Arabic as a second language.

Meanwhile, 20 competences were related to planning, 20 were related to implementation, while 10 were related to evaluation.
