Abstract EN
Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM) was detected in the waste of several petroleum companies.
In Egypt, Exemption levels for Radioactivity in materials were reported in 2004 and upgraded in 2008.
In the present study radiation measurements were carried out around 15 wastes NORM petroleum samples collected from several companies.
Alpha particles were measured using SSNTD, Beta particles and Gamma rays survey meters and radioactivity concentration were measured using gamma ray spectrometry.
From radiation measurements samples, results indicated that 60% of the samples are not exempted from regulatory control.
