The Jordanian Universities competencies tests : comparative study

English Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze and evaluate the benefits of Jordanian universities competencies test carried by Jordanian Higher Education Accreditation Commission (National Testing Center) which conducted for general competencies and medium level competencies.

The general competencies test was conducted for students who are going to be graduated in second semester and summer 2012 / 2013 and those for who are expected to be graduated in first semester 2013 / 2014.

While for the medium level test students included who are to be graduated in second and summer semesters 2013 / 2014 for some programs.

The results of the study show that the average mean of general level competencies test of Jordanian students in the second and summer semesters 2012 / 2013 was 39.75 %, while in the first semester 2013 / 2014 was 44 %.

This results reveal that there is about 10 % improvement.

At the medium level competencies test, results show that the average mean of Jordanian universities students for the second and summer semester of an academic year 2013 / 2014 was 37 % in all tested programs.

The results of the medium level competencies test also show that the average means of the main competencies of the Jordanian universities business college's students were ranging between 28 % and 35 % with an average of 30.29 %.

The results also show that both public and private universities are having very similar results with few discrepancies, but in general, the private universities were excelling public universities with around 2 %.

Finally, the results indicate that the MEU students rated 7.77 % above the average mean of Jordanian universities, while Zarka University rated 15.91 % below the average mean of Jordanian universities.

However, MEU rated 21.98 % more than Zarka University
