The preparation of insoluble tin (IV) tungstate matrix was radiometrically investigated using SnCl4 and Na2188WO4 solutions.
For routine preparation of the precipitate, equal volumes of 0.1M tin(IV) chloride and 0.1M sodium tungstate solutions were mixed together at room temperature(~25 oC).
Elution performance of the generated 188Re radioactivity from the obtained tin tungstate-188W matrices was investigated using small chromatographic columns of the matrix.
Based on the obtained data, 5g tin-tungstate-188W matrix dried at 50 oC packed in a glass column(1 cm i.d.) was eluted by passing 12 ml saline solution ( 0.9% NaCl), as an eluent, through the column bed at flow rate 1 ml/min and ambient room temperature ~ 20 oC.
Elution yield of 75.3 + 2% 188Re was obtained.
Radionuclidic, radiochemical and chemical purity of the eluate proved to be suitable for use in medical and/or industrial applications.
