Abstract EN
A total of seventy of local meat samples (36 bovine samples and 34 ovine samples) were collected from meat abattoirs in Gharbia Governorate(Egypt) for detection of oxytetracycline and pencillin G residues by using Enzyme Linked Immune Sorbent Assay (ELISA) Technique.
All samples had detectable levels either oxytetracycline or pencillin G residues as 37(52.8%), 69(98.5%) were positive for oxytetracycline and pencillin G respectively and 36(51.4%) had detectable levels of both of them.
The results of bovine samples revealed that 27 (75%) and 35(97.2%) were positive for oxytetracycline and pencillin G with mean 18.07 μg/kg, 18.77 μg/kg respectively .while the results of ovine samples revealed that 10(29.4%) and 34(100%) were positive for oxytetracycline and pencillin G with mean values of 9.66 μg/kg ,17.18 μg/kg respectively.
All samples showed detectable level under maximum residue limit recommended by WHO/FAO 2010.
