The objective of this study was to characterize quinolones resistance genes in Gram -negative bacteria isolated from sheep., A total of 100 samples were isolated from sheep from Gimmiza Animal production researches station (Gharbia governorate), A total of 155 non repeated Gram negative bacterial isolates were recovered by Incidence were: E.coli 101(65.16%) ,Serratia marcescens 17 (10.97%) Klebsiella pneumonia 15 (9.68), Proteus vulgaris 10 (6.45%) Citrobacter diversus 9 (5.8%), Entero bacter spp 3 (1.94%).

21 pathogenic E.coli isolates were recovered from the total E.coli isolated and they are serogroubed to 10 serotypes (O18, O1, O158, O119, O145, O78, O20, O103, O12 and O146) with an incidence of (19, 9.5, 9.5, 9.5, 4.8, 19, 9.5, 4.8, 9.5 and 4.8 % respectively ) .The incidence of resistance to nalidixic acid (NAL) was ( 82 /155) ( 53 %) ,ciprofloxacin (CIP) was (36/155) (23.22%), norfloxacin (NOR)was(26/155) (16.77%).

enrofloxacin (ENR) was (16 /155) (10.32 %) .PCR for detection of qnr genes in 15 pathogenic E.

coli isolated from diarrhoeic lambs were qnr A 3 (20%), qnr S 3 (20%) and absence of qnr B.
