Abstract EN
A high natural background radiation area is assigned at South Western Sinai, due to the presence of high concentration of radioactive elements.
A HPGe detector was used in the -ray spectrometric analysis.
The adopted values of activity concentrations of 226Ra, Th and K for 33 samples range from 103.16±2.47 to 2808.76±19.45 Bq / Kg , 11.08±0.85 to 164.89±1.82 Bq/Kg and 19.62±0.8 to 918.37±8.75 Bq / Kg for the three elements respectively.
The radiation hazard indices (external and internal hazard index, radium equivalent, absorbed dose and outdoor annual effective dose rates) were calculated and discussed.
