English Abstract

One of the alternatives to estimate agricultural production at a region is the use of remote sensing technology.

Vegetation cover is an obvious part of land cover.

Land cover undergoes changes due to natural or man-made causes over time.

Vegetation indices have long been used in remote sensing for monitoring temporal changes associated with vegetation.

The Vegetation Index is a standard algorithm designed to estimate the amount of above-ground green vegetation cover from measurements of red and near-infrared reflectance.

This paper describes the data resources used for study and the study area taken for analysis purpose.

The methodology is described; maps of vegetation cover of the study area were produced using Geographic Information Systems.

For research purpose, middle Euphrates region is taken as study area.

To fulfill this objective, two Landsat images acquired at different dates were used to map the land cover and monitor Vegetation index over the investigated area.
