He discovred this book through the Arabic translation of Abu Bishr Matta, who translated from Syriac.And it’s from that translation that he inherits the translation of tragedy and comedy as the panegyric and satire.
Averroes imagines that the tragedy is the art of commendation and comedy, the art to blame, while believing that he could find tragedy and comedy in the Arab poetry.
But from what he imagined, being the philosopher that he is, he could not grasp the significance of the two main words of Aristotle's Poetics, tragedy and comedy are part of another art that is theater, which did not exist in the Arab civilization of the 12th century, but he was able to grasp the meaning of mimesis, close to the meaning that Aristotle gave it, the difference being that Aristotle defined it as an action while Averroès gave it the meaning of doublication.
