Abstract EN

The purpose of the study was to define the problems facing taxi drivers in Nablus district during Al-Aqsa Intifada in the light of five variables : social status, family size, age, educational level and driving route .

The researchers have developed a questionnaire of (50) items dealing with different problems facing taxi drivers .

Twenty two specialists approved its validity as a jury .

The reliability of the questionnaire has been calculated by using Cronbach Alpha formula and it was 0.92 .

The sample of the study consisted of (213) taxi drivers in Nablus district.

To test the hypotheses of the study, the researchers used means, percentages, independent “t“ test, One Way ANOVA and Scheffe test .

The results showed that taxi drivers faced many problems during Al-Aqsa Intifada such as security problems, economic problems, family problems, passanger problems and problems related to the out city roads .

Results also showed that there were statistical differences related to social status in favour of single drivers, and to the age variable in favour of those who were thirty years old or less, and to the educational level in favour of drivers who finished tenth grade or less .

In the same time there were no statistical differences in drivers responses on the total degree of the four dimensions of drivers problems due to the family size variable, in favour of those who had four children or less, and due to the drivers route in favour of those who travelled from city to another.
