The idea of Islamic rating agencies reflects the interest of those who work within the Islamic banking field.

These agencies rate Islamic institutions and products because their rating shows the leaderships and sponsoring institutions’ awareness of the evolution of the Islamic Finance Industry, the advanced stage that it has reached and to what extent it needs rationalization, quality and mastery, Shariah compliance within the legal and theoretical principles, the practices and practical applications.

Shariah based rating is an operation that aims at providing information and independent assessment of Islamic financial institutions’ discipline and commitment, in view of the importance of being reassured about the integrity of the financial industry and providing enough protection for the customers’ financial and non-financial assets and rights.
