Abstract EN
This Study aimed to explore the level of social and psychological adjustment among students with hearing – impairment in Khartoum state.
The study adopted the descriptive method utilizing a research sample drawn from Amal Institute for Training and Rehabilitation of Deaf .
The research sample comprised of (103) male and female students who have been chosen purposively from students in the academic year (2014/2015).
The social and psychological scale has been used as a research tool , the data have been processed statistically using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS), by using statistical approaches such as (Alpha Cronbach, Spearman _ Brown) T- Test for calculating mean for a sample, for a difference between two independent groups, one way analysis of variance.
The study concluded that:- The social and psychological adjustment among hearing impaired students in Khartoum state is high.
There are no statistically significant differences between the social and psychological adjustment among students with hearing impairment which can be attributed to gender.
There are statistically significant differences between the social and psychological adjustment among students who are suffering from hearing – impairment that can be attributed to age variable in favour of age – group (11-15).
There are no statistically significant differences between the social and psychological adjustment among hearing – impaired students that can be attributed to the variable of the level of impairment severity.
There is no propositional correlation between social and psychological adjustment among hearing impaired student in Amal Institute according to the variable of academic achievement.
Based on these findings the researcher has arrived at same important recommendations which include there is a need for early diagnosis and intervention for the hearing impaired and take in necessary steps to maintain the remaining level of hearing and to help in overcoming the effect of hearing- impairment.
