Abstract EN

The present article aims at examing the Ten Year Plan initiated by Sir Frederick Gordon Guggisberg, Governor of the former British colony of the Gold Coast, known presently as the Republic of Ghana.

The Plan that was intended to cover the period from 1919 to 1929 was consideredas the first step to establish a mono-crop economy dependent on metropolitan economy.

A number of points are dealt with among which are: the timing of the Plan, its reasons,financing,objectives and its impact on the future economic infrastructure of the colony.

Inother words, the establishment of a mono-crop economy in the service of the economies of the centre is examined within the context of the theories of dependency
