Abstract EN

To evaluate the effect of ethanol bark extract of Kigellia pinnata and boswellia serrata extract on diabetic nephropathy in streptozotocin (STZ) induced diabetic albino rat.

Rats were made diabetic by a single dose of STZ at 50 mg/kg body weight i.p.

The blood glucose level was checked at 72 hour after STZ injection to confirm the development of diabetes.

Kigellia pinnata and Boswellia serratta were administered orally at the doses of 500 mg/ kg and 400 mg/kg body weight respectively for 28 days.

Daily oral treatment with the extract of Kigellia pinnata and boswellia serratta for 28 days significantly reduced blood glucose, microalbuminuria and improve the pathological changes in kidney induced by diabetes.

This study documented the efficiency of.

Kigellia pinnata and boswellia serratta on controlling the diabetic nephropathy.
