English Abstract
Moroccan electricity market has come a long way starting from 1914, and it has known major reforms since independence.
This research intends to take the Moroccan electricity market all the way to full liberalization.
Hence, the focus is to evaluate the impact of full liberalization on the electricity market, specifically, and the economy as a whole using a computable general equilibrium (CGE) model.
The macroeconomic simulation results show that the full liberalization results in an increase of 7.96% in GDP along with an increase in private consumption, government consumption, household income, direct taxes revenues, energy investment, and exports, in addition to a decrease in imports and exchange rate.
This research provides also a detailed overview of the Moroccan electricity market along with detailed step-bystep CGE model formulation and implementation, starting from the supply and use tables to the programming of the model using GAMS software
