English Abstract

In Dobrudja area there is a rich heritage belonging to Muslim religion, motivated by the fact that since the thirteenth century in this area it has been established the Turkish-Tatar population.

Muslim communities were established in Romania in the fourteenth -fifteenth century, when the constructions for Muslim places of worship were built- the mosques.

They were built especially in Dobrudja area and in some localities along the Danube..

Nowadays, many of these buildings are historic monuments, such as Mosque and "Hunchiar" mosque in Constanta, "Esma han Sultan" mosque in Mangalia, Cernavoda, Harsova, Tulcea, Babadag, Macin and Isaccea.

The resistance structure of these buildings is made of natural stone masonry.

Most of these monuments are located on lands sensitive to moisture, but also in seismic area with different seismic parameters.

The architecture of the buildings is a harmonious blend between Egyptian-Byzantine style with Romanian architectural motives (such as Mosque) or with a Moorish architectural style (such as "Hunchiar" mosque).

The paper explores the reaction in time of these structures made of natural stone, by presenting the main results of the studies and research upon quantifying the mechanical parameters drivers used in the structural calculation.
