English Abstract

Energy demand saw an enormous jump in the last recent years; this jump comes hand in hand with a shortage of the conventional resources’ reserves.

The future unavailability of coal and oil has pushed the world to think of alternatives to supply efficient and affordable energy.

Renewables come as a sustainable solution to preserve the environment and supply green energy to the consumer.

More specifically, wind and solar renewable energies are one of the largest sources developed and implemented worldwide.

Renewables have received a significant attention to encourage the consumer to use green energy and help with the supply of a reliable, profitable, and sustainable electricity to everyone.

However, one of the foremost issues concerning energy supply is its balance with the consumers’ demand.

In fact, larger demand will result in outage and blackout; in contrast, larger supply will result in over-generation and losses.

Hence, it is important to balance between the demand and supply.

In one hand, it is known that electricity supply follows the behavior of the consumer’s demand fluctuations; hence, knowledge and control of the demand is essential.

In the other hand, renewable sources are non-dispatchable and unpredictable.

Several solutions are developed to match between the demand and supply, mainly, storage system; however, storage is still a costly solution.

Grid-connected (GC) system is an alternative that comes as an attempt to match between the demand and supply and to help reduce the price of green electricity; henceforth, reach grid-parity.

However, in order to enlarge the use of grid-connected systems, it is necessary to evolve the consumers and convince them of the profitability they will get by selling their green electricity.

Therefore, the governments must use the right pricing scheme to both attract the consumers and to reach their set objectives.

The new Moroccan decree allowing the medium voltage (MV) to grid-connect to the national grid lacks a pricing mechanism for surplus selling.

Therefore, this research comes following the new Moroccan energy development, as an analysis of a medium voltage grid-connected photovoltaic (GCPV) system; this research is oriented towards finding an optimal and profitable pricing scheme under the current Moroccan energy situation.

The results show that an optimal feed-in tariff (FIT) is a profitable pricing scheme for a medium voltage Moroccan consumer with a Photovoltaic grid-connected system (PVGC).
