English Abstract

Under a sustainable development vision, the use of renewable energies is considered as the most efficient solution in order to face climate change and several crises out of the current fossil fuels energetic system.

Solar energy is one of the most popular renewable energy systems that research is highly focused on.

Moreover, Concentrating photovoltaic (CPV) is regarded as an alternative to flat-plate module in order to produce electricity.

Not only Sun tracking is necessary in this kind of systems, but it also needs to be at a high level of accuracy.

Within the frame of energy production maximization, this thesis aims to maximize solar tracker accuracy through a command strategy optimization.

The first part of the report presents a simulation design of a triple junction solar cell (TJSC).

The second part uses the modeled (TJSC) in order to simulate “Hybrid” tracking and assesses it based on error tracking data.

Other than that, in order to evaluate the attractiveness of the HCPV system, a power plant sizing along with an economic viability study has been performed in the case of using HCPV system to satisfy the electricity need of Al Akhawayn University’s campus.

For this purpose the “Ashrae” model has been used in order to estimate the hourly DNI potential in Ifrane.

The result of the model have been compared with Meteonorm data confirming the good DNI potential of Ifrane.

Using the result of this model and estimations on investment cost, the study revealed a Levelized Cost of Energy around 1.3 MAD/kWh, and positive net cost saving
