English Abstract

Smart city services requires a coverage of communication network to access and control the services of the city and even monitoring the self-managed or smart services, A mobile ad hoc network (MANET) consists of mobile wireless nodes, where the communication between these mobile nodes is carried out without any centralized control, so, we can assume MANET as a self-organized and self-configurable network where the mobile nodes move arbitrarily.

The mobile nodes can receive and forward packets as a router, so, routing protocols is a critical issue in MANET and hence the focus of this paper along is the performance analysis of routing protocols, in order to evaluate best protocol for carrying a sensetive the smart city traffic.

As emergencies and service control traffic requires a high throughput communications the protocols evaluation metrics choosed carefully to be the throughput, delay and the packet data rate (PDR).

Each of AODV, DSR, DYMO and OLSR routing protocols were evaluated according to three mentioned factors.

The Smart City scenarios modeled and simulated using Qualnet simulator while the traffic between the nodes assumed to use constant bit rate (CBR) application.

The simulator result showed that AODV routing protocol has best performance in compare with the rest routing protocols, while DYMO showed the wrost behavior among the other routing protocols.
