English Abstract

It is argued by scholars that education, employment and health are the key sectors of human capital development.

1 2 3 Since, human capital is recognized as an agent of national development worldwide, this thesis supports the argument that a highly developed human capital will be the source of comparative advantage in the twenty-first century global economy.

Furthermore, in order to highlight this thesis with a concrete example, the education system from The United Republic of Tanzania will be used as a case study.

The research objective therefore is to examine the existing education system and to provide implications for practice through policy interventions.

Moreover, this study wishes to tackle the disconnection between the education system and long-term national goals.

This research directly connects with public policy as it illustrates the structural and institutional areas for reformation.

Finally, the study should hopefully yield policies that would change the economic performance of Tanzania’s future, through a focus on education.
