English Abstract

Accurate estimation of the hydrological cycle parameters is essential for an efficient water resources management and planning.

One of these parameters which its rarely considered in the estimation of the water budget in Gaza Strip is the interception.

The interception is the amount of rain which may be intercepted by the vegetation.

The quantity of interception depends mainly upon vegetation and precipitation characteristics.

This paper shows an estimation of the average of interception in Gaza strip.

The estimation of the interception loss in Gaza strip requires the analyses of the land use, mainly determining the agriculture areas and the type of crops and trees.

In previous world wide research each tree and plant has an approximate amount of interception.

These records is used to estimate the average amount of interception in Gaza Strip.

The quantity of interception loss computed as 9.17 million cubic meters per year.

It is known that the average of total precipitation in Gaza Strip is 127.75 million cubic meters per year.

It means that 7.2 % of the total rainfall quantity which will be consequently lost as evaporation to atmosphere.

As matter of fact this amount is a considerable large quantity influences the accurate estimation of the water resource balance.
