English Abstract

Although traditional traffic actuated control is used efficiently, some problems can be seen because of the structure of system and delays of vehicles are increased.

In this study, a new signal control method which is based on fuzzy logic is developed for optimum control of fluctuating traffic volumes.

This paper introduces fuzzy logic as an algorithm for controlling the timing of a traffic signal.

The performance of this control scheme is compared with that of conventional signal control and to create a control scheme that performs like an experienced traffic man at a pedestrian crossing.

This study is motivated by successful application of fuzzy control to various control problems in recent years.

This paper also presents the nature of traffic signal control and reviews past work on the application of fuzzy logic to traffic signals.

It then develops a series of control rules for a pedestrian crossing signal.

This paper first discusses the traffic control strategy, by using PLC simatic S7 300 and its direct control for pedestrian as traditional control to be compared with fuzzy control.

secondly, for the fuzzy logic controller briefly addressed are the elements and characteristics of the key components of the fuzzy controller-the fuzzifier, the fuzzy rule base formulated by human experts, the fuzzy inference engine based on the mamdani fuzzy model, and the defuzzifier.

The focus, however, is placed on the computer simulation of traffic flow regulated by a fuzzy controller based on traffic volumes of Gaza city streets which might be collected through students survey projects.
