English Abstract

Sizing of a stand-alone photovoltaic system is the process of selecting and calculating the ratings of the equipment employed in the system.

Sizing depends on a variety of factors such as solar irradiation and load requirements.

The capital equipment cost of a photovoltaic system is the major part of the price of solar electricity.

Oversizing of a system would increase the price of the generated power, while undersizing would reduce supply reliability.

Therefore sizing is a challenging task and care has to be taken in order to provide the best possible design.

In this work, we introduce the procedures employed in sizing of a stand-alone photovoltaic system based on the watt-Hour demand for a moderate remote residence in the Gaza Strip.
