English Abstract

Here we propose passive / active Waveguide Router (WGR) with enhanced performance for system applications mainly in novel access architectures employing cascaded WGR technology.

Two technologies were used to achieve space wavelength switching in these networks : firstly, passive WGRs with Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers (SOAs) array, and secondly, active WGRs.

Simulation results indicate that Active WGRs architectures are more efficient in routing signals to the destination Optical Network Units (ONUs) than passive WGR architectures.
