English Abstract

The dimensionless equations of motion are derived based on the Mindlin plate theory to study the transverse vibration of thick rectangular plates without further usage of any approximate method.

The exact closed form characteristic equation is given within the validity of the Mindlin plate theory for rectangular plate having three sides simply supported and one side clamed, subjected to uniform loading on all four edges.

Accurate eigenfrequency parameters and buckling loads are presented for a wide range of aspect ratio πthickness ratio 8, winkler foundation coefficient kω and shear foundation coefficient ks for studied plate.

Finally, the effect of aspect ratios, thickness ratios, and both coefficients of foundation on the eigenfrequency parameters and buckling loads of that plate are studied in detail.

It is believed that in the present work, the exact closed form characteristic equation, eigenfrequencies and buckling loads, are obtained for the first time.
