English Abstract

This paper is prepared for the purpose of highlighting the prospects of interconnecting the future Palestinian high voltage transmission network with that of the regional electric pool named "EIJLLST".

Updated information shall be presented regarding the progress of the Palestinian energy sector and the obstacles that prevented the execution of strategic projects in the power sector, which are of vital importance to the Palestinian economy and development.

Using Power World Simulator-a power system analysis package-the simulation proved that the interconnection of the Palestinian transmission network in the Gaza strip with the 220kV power grid in Egypt is technically feasible.

Provided that the political atmosphere is promising, the expected investment costs of such interconnection shall be in the order of 140 MUSD to be executed on three phases till year 2020.
