English Abstract

Construction safety is a challenging issue which deals with so many variances.

Prevention for musculoskeletal work injuries is considered hard task in Gaza construction projects.

Employment in the construction trades entails the use of multiple body movements requiring the handling of hand and power tools, constant movement in awkward positions, vibration and repetitive, forceful use of the back and upper and lower extremities ; all of which are known risk factors for work related musculoskeletal disorders.

The objective of this paper is to define the work related musculoskeletal injuries (disorders) in construction.

The main approach used was through semistructured interviews conducted with project managers.

The results show that work related musculoskeletal injuries is not known as a type of injuries in Gaza construction field.

It is advisable to conduct awareness program in coordination with the contractors union and the ministry of health for construction workers in order to avoid musculoskeletal injuries.
