English Abstract

There is a lot amount of waste heat after industrial process that released to the environment and make pollution problem, and it consider as a lost heat which could be recovered.

This lead to research about sustainable and economical energy source, and to make a reduction in exhaust gases emissions.

In this work a hybrid solution was presented about utilizing the waste heat recovery WHR and solar field to transform the power to the organic Rankine cycle ORC through thermal oil loop and producing electricity.

The WHR was taken in the cement plant in At-Tafilahregion from exhaust gases of rotary kiln which have a temperature range of 280 C to 380 C, and the solar field is consist of parabolic trough solar collector PTSC, while the organic fluid used in the ORC is R245fa, where the ORC could be powered by WHR (first oil path) with high exhaust gases temperature or by solar field (second oil path) with stopping the factory, or by both systems (third path).

Finally, the cycle analysis shows that the electrical power could be produced through first or second path is about 323.33 kWe, while through third path the electrical power could be reach about 358.41 kWe, Also the system efficiency in first or second path could be reach 15.86 % and in third path it will be reach 15.91 %, it worth to mention here that there is will be an excess energy (heat) in third path could be stored in the storage system to utilized later.

In addition the economic analysis shows that the payback period is approximately about three years and nine monthsand net saving money could be achieved are about 200,000 JD/year.

In conclusion, the ORC was founded to have a great potential with utilizing in the cement plant to saving money and make a reduction in the wasted heat to the environment.
