English Abstract
This study investigated the teachers perceptions toward the new 9th grade English textbook from the perspectives of the teachers , and the effect of the variables of; gender and years of experience, and if there are interaction between these variables in Southern Mazar Directorate of Education .
A self-completed questionnaire was developed and employed for the purpose of the study, it is consisted of 57 items.
The questionnaire included five main domains: course objectives, textbook content, activities, evaluation and course layout.
The population of the study consisted of the English language male and female teachers in Southern Mazar Directorate of Education, in the second semester of the academic year 2016-2017.
The total number of the population is 172.
The sample of the study consisted of 89 teachers, (34 male, and 55 female).
The results revealed positive ratings among the English language teachers toward the new 9th grade English textbook regardless of their gender and years of experience, also the study results revealed that the appropriateness of English textbook for the ninth grade from the point of view of teachers was graded with high degree.
The results showed that the domains of : course objectives, course layout, and evaluation were rated with high level of appropriateness, so it does not need to be developed and improved, whereas, the domains of; activities and textbook content were rated with moderate degree of appropriateness, so it needs to be developed and improved in some ways, though not urgent.
Results also revealed that there are statistical significant differences on the views of the study sample that can be attributed to the variable of gender, whereas, with regard to the variable of experience, results revealed that there are no significant differences on the views of the study sample that can be attributed to the variable of years of experience.
