Abstract EN

This paper notes on the administrative Bureaucracy in the Almohad Caliphate (1121–1269), is an attempt to briefly present one aspect of the Almohad’s institutions, which is the administration bureaucracy known as (Kitaba and Dawawin).

This paper gives a linguistic and scientific definition of Kitaba, (official writings), and show the importance of this activity in the state, such as the professional qualities and ability of the administrator (writer), and the organization of the system and the tasks given to the administration staff such as writing and correspondence.

Wherefore, some aspects of social and economic life of the administrators are described.I think that this study is the first one basing on the little information spread in the different sources to give a global vision about theAlmohad’s administrative Bureaucracy.
