A benefit book has been proposed to be offered by an Islamic bank to all of its accountholders

Fatawa Question

A benefit book has been proposed to be offered by an Islamic bank to all of its accountholders. The book contains a bulk of coupons for various retail outlets (including eateries) offering ‘buy one get one free’ type discounts. The scheme is developed by a marketing company and has scores of retail outlets as the participants. It aims to help the bank increase its customer base besides serving the marketing needs of the participating businesses. An accountholder will get the benefit book for free, however the bank is required to share the cost incurred with the company. Could such a scheme be acceptable to the Islamic bank ?
