English Abstract

During the last decades Erbil witnessed a rapid urban growth in the building movement especially in the residential sector.

The government had noticed that the housing units were being built with little regard to architectural and planning regulations whatsoever.

In 2007 a study had been proposed to Erbil's municipality including regulations to be applied on the new subdivided neighborhood Sarbasty (plot No.32m – District No.44 Warsh).

The regulations included the planning and architectural variables.

Fortunately these regulations were approved by the municipality and are still being implemented by plots' owners.

This research is to detail the extents to which the regulations were applied.

To answer this question the research will compare actual samples from the studied neighborhood with the adopted regulation, in order to determine the deviation rate between the real case and proposal.

The result of the research will reflect the rate of implementation of the regulations.
