Abstract EN

Responding to the calls that were made by the first generation of Arab investigators, in the mid-twentieth century, to twin scientific research in university institutions with the inquest of manuscripts, Arab universities engaged in a campaign of serving the heritage.

And early, theses pertaining to the inquest of the heritage appeared in the sixties of the last century.

Although relatively later than its Arab counterparts, the Algerian university has merged into the path of getting interested in the manuscript heritage and it's inquest.

The results of this merger was the turnout of hundreds of students and researchers to choose the inquest of manuscripts as a field of research in their theses and dissertations Despite the contributions that these scientific works offer to the advancing the process of national heritage inquisitions, they did not escape criticism- in form and content- of specialists.

This paper presents a critical reading to the inquest of texts within theses and dissertations to reveal their points of strength and radiance and to know their vulnerabilities and failures.
