This article aims to study the mandatory medical examination requirement for the conclusion of the marriage contract, developed by the Algerian Family Code amended in 2005 and the modalities for its implementation, that is, its Executive Decree No.

06-154.

The article analyzes the content and procedures for medical examination, and the obstacles usually encountred during its implementation.

It was found through this research that this procedure is mainly confined to one type of tests explicitly mentioned in the decree.

The code grants the doctor wide authority in the field tests.

It does not specify sanctions in case of violation of its content.

Failure to provide sufficient guarantees of confidentiality tests has been an issue and the article addresses just this.
