Abstract EN

The present article aims at finding convincing answers to some questions related to the origins of the ancient empire of Ghana which constituted topics of research for a long time.

Despite the efforts made by historians, scholars and archaeologists, an agreement about the origins of the empire of Ghana is far from being reached.

Through this research, we try to develop the different findings and points of view about: the origin of the name Ghana, the location and description of this empire and its capital Kumbi Saleh, and finally the origin of its founding people.

At the end, evidence may show that the linguistic approach is more appropriate.
