English Abstract
This study examined the relationship between foreign equity investments and firms’ characteristics for the Jordanian industrial companies listed on Amman Stock Exchange for the period (2000-2006).
In particular firm's size (Ln Mc), Dividend Yield, Total Risk, Debt Ratio, Current Ratio, Leverage Ratio, Share Turnover Ratio, Return On Equity (ROE), Price/Earnings Ratio (P/E Ratio) and Share Expected Return.
The sample data contained 42 industrial companies continuously traded in ASE during the period from January 2000 to December 2006.
The researcher used OLS regression process under the following basic assumption; the independent variables were the firm’s characteristics, and the dependent variable was foreign equity investments.
This study found that there are significant positive relationships between the foreign equity investments and firm size [Ln (MC)], current ratio, total risk, and share expected return.
A significant negative relationship was found between share turnover ratio and foreign equity investments.
Furthermore, this study found that there are significant positive relationships between the foreign equity investments and dividend yields, leverage ratios, debt ratios, price-to-earning ratios and return on equities
