The structure of the Algerian family Studies of the evolution ofAlgerian family are quite rare,especially those who study the nature ofthe relationships that exist between itsmembers and the role of each of them.For this, we go through this article, follow the evolution of the Algerianfamily since the pre-colonial phase until nowadays, by referring to researchers like Houari Addi, Mustapha Boutefnouchet, Noureddine Toualbi, Thaalibi and Pierre Bourdieu.

It is noteworthy that dg the design of this study on the Algerian family.

It was not only limited to the simple typology of the family in terms of size : extended / nuclear, or the nature of the relationships that exist among members.

But it will also be treated according to the systemic concept or "structure" and its notions of verticality and horizontality.

To finally get to determine the characteristics of a wellstructured family.

Because of the fact that the study and understanding of the family inevitably involves the study and the understanding of the society to which it belongs, we think it is necessary first to give a brief overview of the Algerian society characteristics, further clarifying its notions of verticality and horizontality
