Abstract EN

This paper try to study a linguistic phenomenon that has become widespread in abundance in all languages especially in English, it is the language abbreviations, and this phenomenon has grown significantly since it has a practical nature to help the Shorthand in the language and speed up the process of communication between people.

Abbreviations have roots in the Arab heritage; they exist in the Koran and between scientists of Hadith and in dictionaries, so that each science has its own functional abbreviations, therefore this research try to clarify the relationship between acronyms and sculpture of word.

Finally, we conclude that the Arab councils have to study this phenomenon and have to adopt and recognition its legitimacy because it supply the Arabic language by a lot of words and new terminology that are needed especially after computer revolution and the torrent of knowledge, sciences and new concepts.
