Abstract EN

This paper dealt essentially with a rhetorical and miraculous aspect involving hearing-bound terms in the Qur'an and their suggestive significance.

The focus of this current paper is similar to the kind of research I had carried out during my MA and Ph.D studies : rhetoric and criticism.

The choice of this topic for the current study derives from an intense interest in providing new ways of reading hearing-bound words that would likely help enhance understanding and provide for better contemplations of the meanings of the Qur'anic text, especially for the yet to be mature rhetoricians.

The author's ultimate goal is to explore and analyze hearing oriented terms in their respective contexts with the aim of highlighting their meanings.

As an organizing principle, the paper is comprised of the introduction, which presents the significance of the choice of this topic and the appropriate approach to deal with it.

The author's concern is two fold : how perception both inwardly and outwardly can account for meaning, and what mechanisms are contributory to that; the variant meanings that hearing linked words might take on in their various occurrences in the Qur'an and what mechanisms are contributory to that ; the variant meanings that hearing linked terms take on as they occur in different Qur'anic discourses.
