Abstract EN

The present paper deals with the concept of literature in Mikhail Naimy’s works.

It argues that one of the important representatives of modern Arabian literature Mikhail Naimy differs from his contemporaries as a poet, novelist and cities with his diverse Literary personality .

if we consider all his works together , we can see that his thought is inspired from different literary and philosophical dimensions.

Based on civilizations poet had been inspired and nourished, we can underline two main lines in his oeuvre.

The first of them rose from the traditional Arabic literary area and inclined to innovative sphere.

Initiatives to innovate format and content in Arabic literature mainly arise due to the influence of Western literature.

It is possible to observe some similarities between the main principles of European romanticism and realism and Naimy’s concept of art.

The second direction in Naimy’s literary oeuvre is to solve human nature and his issues not only in the context of certain environment affected by orient civilization or western philosophical thoughts which have oriental origins but in the context of the whole existence.
