Abstract EN

The literary text is a response to an estimated question asked by a presumed reader in such a way that understanding the text implies the understanding of that question which is considered as its response.

In fact, many elements contribute to the construction of the reader question such as the dominant historical context, the poetic to which the text belongs at a given moment and his adherence to other contemporary texts and that in a kind of mutual game so that to create a determined literary sensitivity or what is called the horizon of expectation according to the German reader- response theory.

The temporal distance existing between the present horizon of the reader interpretation (here and now) and the writing and reading horizons in a past phase render the reader incapable to build the past horizon if he does not make use of the literary texts and critical speeches produced at that time.

This analysis applies also to the Algerian novels which has contributed during the colonial period and afterwards in the formation of a consciousness resisting to any form of alienation and has contributed to the concretization of a discourse corresponding to the world changes especially on the ideological plan.
