In a lengthy essay, the sociologist and professor Talal Asad discusses the issue of the Islamic veil as treated by French secularism.
This essay is a part of his epistemological project which explores the complex relation between Islam and the West, and also addresses a number of problematic points connected with the so-called Islamic veil issue in France and its central articulation in the Stasi commission report.

Le sociologue Talal Asad traite, dans un long article, la question du voile islamique tel qu’il est considere par la laicite franchise.
Cet article vient dans le cadre de son projet epistemologique qui etudie le rapport complexe entre l’lslam et I’Occident.
11 traite egalement des problematiques relatives a ce qui est connu sous le nom de «la question du voile islamique en France» et sa formulation principale dans le rapport de la commission STASI.
