Abstract EN

Cultural heritage is a clear expression of country’s national identity over the ages.

There are two types of cultural heritage; the ethereal one, which includes every movable wealth such as languages, stories and legends and denies any physical appearance like painting and buildings...ect.

And the physical heritage, which contains every palpable wealth such as painting, pottery and archaeological and historical objects.

Speaking of which the wall art is considered within this category and it is characterized by its communication capabilities which reflect the social and cultural environment.

Therefore, we intend to study one of the walls paintings of Ahmed Bey palace, especially murals which tells the story of Ahmed Bey’s trip to pilgrimage in 1818 (mural of Ismailia city).

Using the semiotic analysis to figure out the Islamic cultural heritage and its values system.
