Abstract EN

It can be said that the contemporary global variables that are experiencing a great opening to the cultures of the world through the mass media and the transfer of information and communications technology are predictors for many challenges that will face the developing world communities, particularly young people.

Especially since these variables may entail multiple intellectual and cultural trends foreign to them, which makes it necessary to consider how to positively deal with this diversity in the information age.

In light of this, the rationale of this study was to identify the cultural variables resulting from social media and its effects on female university students, and visualize the proposed social service in dealing with those effects through the cognitive model.

This is a descriptive study using both types of the social survey method: stratified random sample of students and a comprehensive survey of social workers at Princess Nora bint Abdurrahman University.

A questionnaire was used to collect data.

The study results showed that social networks have contributed significantly to the opening up to other cultures and to adopting elements of Western cultures by young people in particular.

The results showed the important role of the social worker in correcting misconceptions among students about what Western social networking sites offer.
